Utility outages affect millions of Jamaicans daily — from power cuts disrupting businesses in Kingston to water lock-offs in rural communities. Our mission is to provide transparent, timely, and accurate outage information so that residents, businesses, and emergency services can plan accordingly. We believe access to this information is a public good.

We collect outage information from multiple official channels to ensure comprehensive coverage. Our automated pipeline runs every few minutes, scraping, parsing, and normalizing data from:

How It Works
Automated Scraping
Our scrapers fetch data from official websites and social media accounts every few minutes.
Smart Parsing
Raw content is parsed, locations are normalized against Jamaica's 14 parishes and 200+ communities.
Deduplication
Hash-based deduplication ensures we never store duplicate content, keeping our data clean.
Location Matching
Fuzzy matching resolves location aliases (e.g., 'Mobay' → Montego Bay, 'KGN' → Kingston).
Time Normalization
All timestamps are converted to UTC for consistent tracking across time zones.
Community Reports
Users can submit their own outage reports to supplement official data sources.
